Connecting Communities across State Lines

This exhibit features the teams that developed in the greater Kansas City Mexican American communities on both sides of the Kansas and Missouri state line. Come explore the story of how and why these leagues were formed. Learn about the development of the game from its pre-Columbian past to the establishment of baseball and later fast pitch softball leagues among the descendants of the Mexican immigrants who came and played their favorite sport.

Mexican American Teams.jpg This exhibit was curated by Dr. Gene T. Chávez with assistance from the staff of the Kansas City Museum. It would not have been possible without community support and the MASA Fastpitch Leagues.

This exhibit will be on display at the Wyandotte County Museum from September 15 until November 15, 2021.

Wyandotte County Museum is located in Wyandotte County Park, 631 N. 126th St., Bonner Springs, Kansas. It is open to the public Monday-Saturday 9:00-4:00 pm.
