UG Offices & State Agencies to Remain Open with Limited Staff on 8/11

In observance of fallen Deputy Elijah Ming’s funeral service, on Monday, August 11, 2025, Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) offices and outlined state agencies will remain open, with limited staff on duty during the hours of 9:00 am to 1:00 pm to allow employees the opportunity to attend Monday’s service.
UG Departments
- All UG Departments will remain open with select departments operating with limited staff until 1:30 pm.
- Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office – Administrative offices will be closed the entire day on Monday, August 11, 2025.
- Municipal Court – Will remain open, with limited staff from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
State Agencies
- District Attorney's Office - Will remain open for normal operations.
- District Court - Offices will remain open, with limited staff from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
All UG and States offices will return to normal operations and will be fully staffed by 1:30 pm.

Service Details for Deputy Elijah Ming
As a reminder, Deputy Elijah Ming's funeral service will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at Children's Mercy Park (1 Sporting Way, KCK, 66109).
The service is open to the public and will begin at 11:00 a.m. Parking lots will open at 9:00 a.m., and the stadium gates will open at 9:30 a.m.
There will be a Law Enforcement Processional starting 30 minutes following the service, at approximately 1:30 PM. The route is posted below. We invite residents and businesses to line the procession route on Monday, and to display blue ribbons or signs of support for Deputy Ming’s family.
The route is as follows:
• East On France Family
• South on Village West Pkwy
• East on State Ave
• South on I-435
• East on I-70
• North on N. 7th St.
• West on State Ave
• Ends at N. 94th St. and State Ave
Please Note: Burial services will be private.
Deputy Ming’s service will be livestreamed on the Unified Government’s YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.
