UG PlanKCK Comprehensive Plan to be Presented at Special Session This Thursday

Kansas City, KS – On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) Planning and Urban Design Department will present the proposed policies and action plan of the PlanKCK comprehensive plan in a special session beginning at 5 p.m.

PlanKCK is the update to the 2008 comprehensive plan with a focus on land use; economic development; housing and neighborhoods; historic preservation; arts, identity, and culture; transportation and mobility; environmental justice and resiliency through the lenses of equity, access, health, and regeneration.

The UG recently wrapped up a “summer of engagement” where community members provided their input and ideas with more than 5,000 engagements across KCK. On Monday, November 13, the City Planning Commission approved the draft PlanKCK following the support of the Unified Government Landmarks Commission on Friday, November 11.

PlanKCK will establish a shared vision for the future of the community, providing strategies for community prosperity while allowing for flexibility as community needs evolve. As a comprehensive plan, PlanKCK provides a policy framework for area plans where more specific community objectives are addressed.

During this Thursday’s information-only special session, community members are encouraged to tune in online or in person to hear the various aspects and community input included within the plan.

Anyone interested can tune-in via Zoom, watch via UGTV, or join us in-person on the 5th Floor of the Municipal Building.
