Calling Young KCK Artists: PlanKCK Futures Competition

PlanKCK is our initiative to develop a shared vision for the future of Kansas City, KS. We need your input as the next generation of artists and leaders! The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS invites KCK artists 21 years old and younger to submit your original vision of the future for Kansas City, Kansas through the artistic medium of your choice.
2D, 3D, Audio, Video - We Want to See Your Vision
We encourage you to unleash your talent through various mediums, such as traditional painting and drawing styles (watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, chalk, etc.), mixed media, and three-dimensional art. Any writing on posters may be in any language spoken in our community. We ask that you submit a photo of any physical objects for consideration. If you have sound and/or video files, please share a link to your creation (YouTube preferred).
Projects may be submitted individually or as a group. For class or club project, a teacher or adult sponsor may fill out one Entry Form for the group. Each group submission should identify the name of the group (e.g., class, school, club, etc.) and age range.
Submittal Requirements:
- Title
- Name of Artist(s)
- Brief summary of the artwork and your vision of the future.
- 11x17 poster of original artwork in jpeg, tif or pdf format OR photo of physical objects in jpeg, tif or pdf OR link to video or sound files.
- Submission can include your language of choice.
- Must be a resident of Kansas City, Kansas, age 21 or under.
- All final artwork must be original with credit to all contributors.
Timeline
The deadline for project submittals is midnight, Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Recognition
All submissions will be judged for creativity, originality, appropriateness, and demonstration of the theme. A team of distinguished designers and community leaders will select works to be featured in upcoming exhibits. If artist is under the age of 18 and therefore a minor, a responsible adult signature is required for any submissions to the competition. Judges' decisions are final.
Top Entries
The submittals will be evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges and announced at the October 7, 2023 Neighborhood Summit as well as being exhibited at the October 20, 2023 Third Friday in Strawberry Hill. Submittals may also be used as reference images in the final PlanKCK document.
