Quindaro Park Basketball Courts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Published on June 13, 2024
On Friday, June 7, 2024, the Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially unveil new basketball courts at Quindaro Park, in KCK.
Through a community survey launched last year from the UG Parks and Recreation Department, community members voted between four different amenities (Basketball, Futsul, Tennis, or Pickleball) to replace the outdated tennis courts at Quindaro Park. 57% of community members voted to have new basketball courts installed at Quindaro Park.
These amazing new blue top courts will serve as great fun and training for many youth and adults in the community.
Community members joined Mayor Tyrone Garner, District 1 Commissioner Gayle Townsend, County Administrator David Johnston, along with Parks and Recreation Director Angel Ferrera for brief remarks and to learn about the process of making impactful revisions to this park.
After the official ribbon cutting, UG Parks and Recreation staff provided free basketball training and drills for the community youth in attendance.
