We all were deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Kansas City, Kansas Police (KCKPD) Officer Hunter Simoncic. Our prayers, thoughts, and heartfelt condolences are with Officer Simoncic’s family, friends, and the entire Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD).

Memorial Service Details - 9/3/2025

The Memorial service for fallen KCKPD Officer Hunter Simoncic will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Children's Mercy Park, 1 Sporting Way, KCK, 66109.

The service is open to the public and will begin at 10:00 AM. Parking lots will open at 7:30 AM with stadium gates opening at 8:00 AM.
 
Attendees should approach Children’s Mercy Park from State Ave. Public parking will be located on the south side of the stadium in Blue Lot 2 on the grounds of the Kansas Speedway. Please, be aware that Village West Parkway and France Family Drive will be closed to public traffic.

Law Enforcement Processional Details

There will be a Law Enforcement Processional starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of service. 

The procession will start from Children's Mercy Park

  • France Family Drive to Village West Parkway
  • Village West Parkway South to State Ave.
  • State Ave. East to I-635
  • I-635 Northbound to Parallel Parkway
  • Parallel Parkway East to N. 5th Street
  • N. 5th Street North to Stewart Ave.
  • Stewart Ave. East to N. 3rd Street
  • N. 3rd Street South to Washington Blvd.
  • Washington Blvd. West to N. 7th Street
  • N. 7th Street South to I-70
  • I-70 Westbound to I-435 Northbound

Outside Agencies and Public Participation will be dismissed on I-70 and I-435Family and KCKPD will continue with the procession.

We encourage the community members to continue to display blue ribbons outside their homes and businesses as a sign of support of the Simoncic family and the men and women of the KCKPD. It is a small gesture, but very powerful and unifying one.

The Official Memorial Fund for Officer Hunter Simoncic is set up through the Kansas City, Kansas Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #4.
Donations can be made to: KCK FOP Memorial Fund c/o Simoncic Family at any Public Safety Credit Union location. 
ALL proceeds collected will be donated directly to the family.
