Share Your Input: Elevating KCK River Crossing Study
Published on October 01, 2025
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas (UG) is inviting community members to share feedback on the future of the Kansas Avenue and Central Avenue bridges. Both bridges have been part of the community for more than a century but were closed in recent years due to safety concerns.
Through the Elevating KCK River Crossing Study, the UG and project partners are evaluating whether rehabilitation, replacement, or removal would best serve the long-term needs of the community. More than 380 residents weighed in during the first survey earlier this summer, and their feedback helped shape the design concepts now under consideration. View the design concepts on the Elevating KCK website.
A second survey is now open following the September 30, 2025, open house. Residents can view proposed design options for each bridge, share funding preferences, and weigh in on priorities such as street maintenance and pedestrian access. The input received will play a critical role in guiding recommendations and shaping the next steps of the study.
