UG Offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 19

KANSAS CITY, KS - Due to worsening conditions, all offices of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) will close today, Tuesday, February 18 at 3PM. In anticipation of tomorrow's weather, UG buildings will remain closed on Wednesday, February 19 but services will be available remotely. Our 3-1-1 call center is available 24/7 to report service issues. All buildings will reopen on Thursday, February 20 at 8AM.
Service Impacts
District Court
The District Court will continue any in-person hearings to a later date, to be rescheduled by the respective division. Court hearings that are scheduled to be conducted remotely may still be held at the discretion of the assigned judge. If your hearing was set to be held remotely, you should contact the assigned division to check on its status.
KCK Municipal Court
Due to anticipated inclement weather, the Kansas City, Kansas Municipal Court will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. All cases scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025, will be continued. Notices will be mailed later this week.
Additionally, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, the Kansas City, Kansas Municipal Court will not open until 10:00 AM. As such, there will be no morning dockets on Thursday, February 20, 2025. All cases scheduled for Thursday morning, at 8:30 AM or 10:00 AM, will be continued. Notices will be mailed later this week. The 1:00 PM docket on Thursday will occur as scheduled.

Trash & Recycling
As of 2/19/25: Trash and recycling service for this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday has been suspended until next week.
Transit
For Wednesday, February 19, 2025, all public transit riders may experience up to an hour delay of service. Residents can get public transit service notifications from RideKC via text, email or voice message via RideKC Notify. Sign-up instructions available here.
Cold Weather Shelter
The KCK Cold Weather Shelter (550 State Avenue, KCK, 66101) will be open tonight, starting at 6:30PM. Guests can stay until 7AM. The Willa Gill Center (645 Nebraska Avenue, KCK) will serve as a daytime warming center with extended hours from 7 AM and a checkout time of 6 PM. The Shelter Hotline is available at 913-725-0079. All UG Community and Recreation Centers will be closed on Wednesday, which means they will not be available as warming shelters.
