New X-Ray Machines used at the Municipal Building- Effective 3/31
Published on March 28, 2025
The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) is pleased to announce a tentative completion date for the final phase of the Municipal Building Plaza rehabilitation project, scheduled for the end of July 2025.
In preparation for the project's completion, the UG is implementing certain changes to the entry points of the Municipal Building to further the convenience of guests.
X-Ray Machines: Increased Security and Expedited Check-In Times
Effective Monday, March 31, 2025, all visitors entering the Municipal Building (701 N. 7th Street, KCK) will be required to use the newly installed security X-ray machines at the two designated public entrances, located on the main lobby and ground level.
The installation of these X-ray machines is expected to expedite the security check-in process for visitors to the Municipal Building, aligning it with the Wyandotte County Court House security check-in process. This new process will also eliminate the need for cumbersome content hand inspections of all backpacks, travel bags, purses, and other similar items.
As in the past, the walk-through metal detectors will remain in place as a required element of security pass-through. This use will exclude individuals who might be adversely affected due to certain medical conditions.
Municipal Building Plaza project updates will be shared as they become available.
