Join us twice this month for some exciting activities in the Historic Northeast

The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department and community partners Kaboom, Vibrant Health, and Carmax Cares will host a three-day playground building event and ribbon-cutting ceremony starting August 15 –17, 2023 for the playground at Parkwood Park (952 Quindaro Blvd., Kansas City, KS, 66101). Community members, companies, nonprofits, and others are invited to sign-up to volunteer to make this new playground a reality.

The UG Parks and Recreation Department has been diligently working to provide park renovations and create play spaces and this will be the fourth new playground in summer 2023. Through this generous collaborative partnership, residents and visitors of the area will be able to enjoy this newly community designed renovated play space for many years.

“We are extremely excited to see the new renovations come to Parkwood Park,” said Parks and Recreation Director, Angel Ferrara. “This new play space will provide an improved experience for park users.  We appreciate the partnership efforts with Kaboom, CarMax, and Vibrant Health making this possible for the community.”

Community members, local businesses and organizations are invited to join this community effort by registering to volunteer and spread the word about this building project. A total of 200 volunteers, age 14 and up, are needed at all skill levels and abilities to make this build event a success.
