July P&R Month - 2025

July 2025 has been officially declared "Parks and Recreation Month" by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.

The proclamation is in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) in recognizing the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — who maintain the nation's local, state and community parks.

As part of July's festivities, the UG Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor various community events, highlighting this year’s theme of “Build Together, Play Together."

"Parks and Recreation Month reminds us that when we build together, we play together our parks are more than just green spaces, they are the heart of our communities, where connections grow, wellness thrives, and memories are made," said UG Parks and Recreation Director Angel Ferrara. "Celebrating this month recognizes the parks and people that create places for fun, growth and community”.
