Beginning Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG), in partnership with the City of Bonner Springs, KS, will open a new Motor Vehicle Renewal Only location inside the Bonner Springs City Hall (200 E. 3rd Street, Bonner Springs, KS).

This pilot location will offer all Wyandotte County residents the option to walk in and complete vehicle renewals only on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Only walk-in services will be offered (no rescheduled appointments at this location), and other types of motor vehicle transactions will not be available at this location (such as transfer of tags, purchase of new vehicles, etc.). In addition to the new Bonner Springs location, the other two locations at the Annex and Courthouse will continue to offer full motor vehicle services, and residents can also renew their tags online via the mywyco app

“This project represents a strong partnership between the Unified Government and the City of Bonner Springs,” said Unified Government Treasurer Andrea Vinyard. “Our goal with this PILOT is to reduce the crowds at our two main Motor Vehicle offices, which will allow us to improve efficiencies and better serve residents across the county. We’re hopeful this step forward will make the renewal process more convenient while strengthening the overall customer experience.”

"We are excited to host another County service that brings convenience to the western section of the county,” expressed City of Bonner Springs, KS, Mayor Tom Stephens. “I appreciate all of the efforts of staff and elected officials to ensure Western Wyandotte County has equal access to county services."

To assist with the in-person renewal processing time and experience at the new location, residents are encouraged to check out the Motor Vehicle webpage that outlines the steps and documents needed: Renew Tags on a Motor Vehicle
