Playground Building Event at Edgerton Park in KCK (Seeking Volunteers)

The Unified Government Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with General Motors (GM), and KaBoom to host a three-day building event and ribbon cutting ceremony May 5^th- 7^th, 2022, for a playground at Edgerton Park (2049 Springfield Blvd., Kansas City, KS 66101). 

The UG Parks and Recreation has been working hard to update and create play spaces in the Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS community. Community residents, local businesses and organizations are invited to join this community effort by registering to volunteer and spread the word about this amazing project. The partnering organizations are seeking at least 100 volunteers, at all skill levels and abilities for the three-day event.

**Please note - All youth under the legal working age for this state will be welcome to participate in youth activities but will not be able to participate in building in the construction areas.**

Playground Build Dates & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

• Thursday, May 5, 2022 (8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
• Friday, May 6, 2022 (8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
• Saturday, May 7, 2022 (8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
• Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. 

Get Involved

Interested volunteers are asked to register at Edgerton Park Playground. Volunteers are able to volunteer all three outlined days or select the day or days that work best for their schedule.  Each day volunteers will receive breakfast and lunch as well as safety materials to complete the various outlined building tasks.
