Unified Government Names Public Information Officer

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS is pleased to announce the hiring of Krystal R. McFeders as the new Public Information Officer.
Ms. McFeders will be responsible for ongoing media relations for the Unified Government, supporting community outreach and real-time information sharing, and developing our content strategy for the many channels we use to communicate with our community. Working closely with the Director of Strategic Communications and several department public information officers (e.g. Public Health, Public Works, Public Safety, etc.), Ms. McFeders is part of a concerted team effort by county administration to improve overall satisfaction with communications.
Born and raised in Wyandotte County, Ms. McFeders graduated from F.L. Schlage High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Park University in Communication Arts. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management, as well as a Master of Teaching from Kansas State University. Prior to joining the Unified Government, Ms. McFeders was a teacher with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools.
“I am thrilled and grateful for my role within the organization," said Ms. McFeders. "I look forward to helping drive timely, innovative communications and foster more positive community relations with Wyandotte and KCK residents, businesses and stakeholders.”
Ms. McFeders has worked in a variety of corporate and non-profit industries and has a wide range of experience in strategic communications and planning, business operations and program management. She has a deep passion for youth and community education, empowerment, and growth which she looks forward to bringing to her role as Public Information Officer.
“In an era where timely information matters so much,” said County Administrator Doug Bach, “we are pleased to have Ms. McFeders join our team as a spokesperson for the Unified Government, helping us connect efficiently with residents as we work towards our recovery from the pandemic.”
